what: A Canadian immigrant from Somalia, K'naan fuses hip-hop with a wide range of musical styles and emotional states. Drawing from his youth, K'naan manages to rap about violence and injustice while avoiding a sense of exhibitionism or hyping any kind of shock value. He drew a very mixed and upbeat crowd here in downtown Toronto - there were people of all ages and colours.
