Atrocities and Genocide Sad to say, world history is awash with atrocities and genocide of every conceivable sort. To the extent that we familiarize ourselves with the surviving records of these appalling events, one question we need to ask ourselves is whether we will then want to devote ourselves to recrimination and pointing fingers, or whether we will learn some useful lessons from past folly and go forward in life-affirming ways, instead of simply recapitulating the sins and errors of the past.
